Zelly Solves a Bite-Sized Mystery

When Zelly came up for air it was the best feeling in the world. She loved swimming and loved holding her breath underwater, it was her absolute favorite thing to do. But coming up for air after beating her old breath-holding record was almost a better feeling than being underwater.'

'I did it!' she shouted excitedly.

Zeelo, who offered to come to the pool with Zelly and record her time, blinked slowly, then grinned and waved happily, cheering for her friend.

Zelly was so proud of herself for beating her record she decided to head to her locker for a congratulatory treat of her favorite Strawberry Crisp Bars.
'Where could they have gone?' Zelly asked out loud when she opened her locker to find it empty. When Zeelo asked what was wrong Zelly explained that she always kept a stash of Strawberry Crisp Bars near the pool as a post-swim power-up.

'Oops,' said Zeelo. 'What?' asked Zelly. 'Nothing,' Zeelo insisted, quicker than she normally spoke.

Zeelo offered to help Zelly find the missing bars so Zelly put Zeelo's weird behavior out of her mind. Zelly and Zeelo checked everywhere they could think of. They checked everywhere Zelly normally went and then the places she didn't normally go. They checked the pool and the beach and the outdoor pool and even the inflatable kiddie pool, but no Strawberry Crisp Bars were in sight. They retraced Zelly's steps, then traced them again, but there was still no sign of the missing bars. Zelly was ready to give up when Zeelo asked her to check the parking lot outside the pool.
 

When Zelly and Zeelo reached the parking lot they discovered someone was already there waiting for them. A smiling Larz and Winzu were holding a banner and a plate piled high with Strawberry Crisp Bars.

'Surprise!' Larz and Winzu shouted when Zelly and Zeelo walked over.

'We wanted to celebrate,' Winzu explained. 'It isn't every day the underwater breath-holding champion beats her old record!'

'I made the poster!' Larz said, pointing to the congratulations poster that hung over the table.

'But how did you know I beat my record?' Zelly asked.

'We all believe in you,' Winzu explained. 'We knew you could do it, so as soon as we heard you were going to try we started gathering party supplies.'

'And that's for me?' Zelly asked, pointing to the pile of bars.

'We wanted to make you a congratulations treat!' Larz explained. 'We stacked all the Strawberry Crisp Bars we could find, to make the Biggest Strawberry Crisp Bar Ever.'

'So that's where my Strawberry Crisp Bars went!' Zelly exclaimed.

'Sorry,' Zeelo said, 'We got a little carried away.'

Zelly laughed. 'Thank you! Thank you all so much! I love the surprise! And I love the Biggest Strawberry Crisp Bar Ever.' With a big grin Zelly took a bite out of the Biggest Strawberry Crisp Bar Ever. She sure has some great friends.
